James
(Jim) H.W. Sanderson, Q.C. Jim was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Canadian Infantry Corp. in 1943 and was a member of the Canadian Army until 1951. In 1948, Jim earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. He received his LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1952. In 1964 Jim received his Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) appointment. From 1970-1976, Jim served as a Bencher of the Law Society.
Jim has had a lengthy legal career starting in 1953, which has taken him to
Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, France, West Germany,
Bahamas, United States, and England. His main areas of practice and interest
are corporate law, income tax matters, and wills/estate planning.
In 1995, Jim was the second recipient of the Law Society of Saskatchewan award
in recognition of exemplary service and contributions to the public and legal
profession. Jim has been the president of these Prince Albert organizations:
Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Jaycees, Minor Softball Association, Minto
Hockey Club, and Christmas Cheer Fund. He was also an Alderman of the City of
Prince Albert for two terms. He continues to be an active member of the Prince
Albert Kiwanis Club.
His wife of 54 years has been supportive of his career and farming which centers
around his Charolais cattle operation. Jim is known to play the occasional round
of golf at Elk Ridge Golf & Conference Centre. Jim is delighted to be close
to his two daughters, their husbands, and his three granddaughters, all who
live in Saskatchewan.
